Bio
Lleuwen Steffan was born in the Ogwen Valley, North Wales. She is a singer and guitarist and recorded her first single, Draw Dros yr Afon, at 18 years of age.
She composes and writes mostly in her mother tongue – Welsh. After performing with Breton musicians in Lorient Interceltic Festival in 2008 she decided to move to Brittany to learn the Breton language and to record her most recent album, Tân. This album has been co-produced by multi-instrumentalist Vincent Guerin and has been awarded Best Breton Language Album for France 3 TV’s FR3 Awards as well as been nominated for the Welsh Music Prize for album of the year. Last year, Lleuwen won Liet International songwriting competition for her song Ar Gouloù Bev in Gijon, Asturias (liet-international.com).
She has toured extensivley in the U.K and France and performed in various festivals including Genting Jazz Festival in Malaysia, Celtic Connections in Scotland and Ollin Kan Festival in Mexico.
