2nd International Symposium on NEW SPEAKERS IN A MULTILINGUAL EUROPE: OPORTUNITIES AND CHALENGES

On the 20th-22nd of November, Vera Ferreira and Peter Bouda will attend the 2nd International Symposium on New Speakers in a Multilingual Europe: Opportunities and Challenges, the first Whole Action Meeting of the European network “New Speakers in a Multilingual Europe (ISCH COST Action IS1306). The symposium will take place at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya in Barcelona (Spain).

Vera Ferreira and Peter Bouda, two of the Portuguese delegates of the COST Action IS1306, will give a talk on “The role of language technologies in the empowerment of new speakers of minority / endangered languages”, focusing on three language technology projects at CIDLeS (Poio, WordByWord and Spelling Loom) and their effects on the revitalization of Minderico and on the empowerment of a community of new speakers.
